A pack of 3 bags (small, medium & large) Every year thousands of tonnes of wrapping paper is used once and then thrown away which is a real waste of resources, energy and money! Wrapping paper normally can’t be recycled as it contains additives and additional plastics to make the patterns and designs, and so once it is thrown away it ends up in landfill sites – or worse. Believe it or not, it is estimated that in the UK over 10,000 tonnes of Christmas wrapping paper goes to landfill every year – which is enough paper to stretch to the moon! And in the US, it is reckoned that enough wrapping paper to cover 45,000 football fields is used!!! So using a gift bag is doing just a little bit to save these resources and energy. Poverty means that people are more vulnerable to environmental problems and issues – because people are often unable to adapt to change or live in areas most at risk – for example to flooding.
