Jacobs Well is a brand owned by Oasis representing fair trade production facilities in India and Uganda.

India has been involved in fair trade production since 1994 initially in Mumbai and more recently in Bangalore. The Jacobs Well production facility in Bangalore is a member of the World Fair Trade Organisation (WFTO) and employs ‘graduates’ from the Oasis ‘Learning and Livelihoods’ training courses which are aimed at vulnerable young people from poor backgrounds, with no employment prospects, living in slum conditions on the streets of urban cities hence because of the work of Jacobs Well, many lives have been transformed!

In Kampala – Uganda, mothers and carers of some of the vulnerable children that benefit from Oasis pre-school and catch-up schooling, also find employment in the Oasis production unit, having been taught paper bead making skills. With these skills, the women are able to produce excellent quality jewellery that helps to supplement their family income considerably.

Historically the production units in both countries have focused largely on producing our own high quality, Jacobs Well branded products. More recently however, our strategic direction has changed to focus on offering high quality fair trade production services to other companies/ designers. We do continue to make a small number of our own-branded goods which can be bought, but at a reduced level and for the primary purpose of demonstrating the breath and quality of capability of our production facilities.
